Searching for...the Right Shampoo

source
I have to admit, I am really, really picky about my shampoo. It can’t make my hair feel like it’s weighted down by beads, or goop on the roots. It can’t make my hair frizzy, but I like it to have a little volume. It can’t make my scalp flake like there’s a blizzard. It can’t make my hair feel oily and gross by the end of the day, but I like it too be glossy and smooth.

Picky? Yes, definitely.

My hair is not typical Asian, straight and shiny. It is wavy. It is thick. If I have it in a half-up style, my scalp hurts a bit by the end of the day. So, it’s been difficult trying to find a shampoo that works.

For years (and I really mean years), I have switched around. Using a little Herbal Essences for a few days, then switching to Pantene, then switching to Matrix (which I thought would work, but only does for about 3 days), sometimes trying out my husband’s Tea Tree from Sports Clips. Then, the cycle begins all over again. For awhile, I thought Herbal Essences was hitting all of my requirements, and then after multiple uses in a row, it made my hair weigh down. Boo. :(

Finally, my husband convinced me to experiment. I went to Target and bought as many different travel-sized bottles of shampoo as possible.

I tried them all. So far, it seems like this is the top finalist:

Head & Shoulders Classic Clean
I’ll admit, I was skeptical trying it at first because, when they came out with a new line about 5-6 years ago, I hated it. It was heavy and didn’t do anything for my hair at all.

This new, revitalized shampoo makes my hair feel silky and light. It takes care of the dandruff problem and doesn’t feel like it is gooping up my roots. I’ve only been using it for a full week, so we’ll see what happens at the end of the month. I really hope this is the one.
