The Art of Reading Aloud

source

My husband and I have always tried to read books together. And the best way we found was to read aloud to each other right before bed. (We're on True Grit now, if you're interested...a really great book to read aloud.)
I've always believed that reading aloud helps your writing. I helps you with your voice (as in your story voice), your oration (as in public speaking), your story pacing, your sentence structure, your characters' dialogue...just about everything. I think you catch so many mistakes (typo, grammar, word choice, or otherwise) by simply reading your writing aloud to yourself.
If you're courageous, you can read aloud to someone else. You'll catch even MORE mistakes this way, as long as you trust the other person to be honest with you.
It's awesome. Try it sometime!
