Grammar Lesson Monday: Its and It's

Welcome to Grammar Lesson Monday!
This continuous series will address many common grammar mistakes made in the media and that I've seen more than once.  I strive to make the world a better place with good grammar.


Today, we will learn when to use "its" or "it's."

"Its" is possessive.
My hot dog has a first name.  Its skin is brown.

"It's" is a contraction of "it" and "is."
My hot dog has a last name.  It's spelled M-e-y-e-r.
